A five-member delegation of M/s Zimbabwe Power Corporation (ZPC) and their consultant M/s WAPCOS to BHEl Bhopal, visited the plant of the BHEl- Bhopal on Thursday.
The BHEl recently received an EPC hydro contract for Gairezi (2 x 15 MW) HEP in Zimbabwe of M/s ZPC. Total order is worth Rs 800 crore out of which BHEl’s share is around Rs 125 crore.
Prior to the visit of BHEl Bhopal, the delegation visited Nyaborongo Hydro Electric Pant in Rwanda, Africa on 8th Dec 2015 wherein BHEl has successfully installed and commissioned 2 nos. Francis machines of 14 MW each for Government of Rwanda.
On their visit to BHEl Bhopal plant, the Hydro group welcomed the team. Brief presentations on design aspects & manufacturing capabilities of Hydro Turbine and Hydro Generator were made to the delegation. The representatives of M/s ZPC discussed about the specific requirements of Gairezi project.
After the technical discussions, the team visited WTM shop. During the visit, GM / Hydro briefed the delegates about the manufacturing capabilities of hydro equipment in BHEl Bhopal. The delegates then had a brief meeting with ED Bhopal Shri AMV Yugandhar in his office. ED Bhopal assured the delegates from M/s ZPC to complete the Gairezi project as per schedule.
The team then proceeded for a visit to Hydro laboratory. AGM / HME apprised the delegation about the in-house Hydro Turbine Model Manufacturing and Model Testing facilities.
The team was delighted to see such facility of international standard and appreciated the excellent dedication of BHEl Bhopal for establishing state-of-the-art hydro machinery development station.
This was followed by shop visit to Golden Jubilee Block, New Transformer Block and HGM shop. Zimbabwean team was highly impressed with international standard of design and manufacturing facilities for varied products at one place.
