A 27-year–old youth was injured after a group of a miscreant opened fires at him near a farmhouse under Aishbagh police station area late on Wednesday night.
According to the police, Mohd Sadiq alias Bhaiya was on his way to home when he was waylaid by five miscreants and was thrashed brutally. One of the accused opened fire at Bhaiya, the bullet hit him in
the back.
Victim was rushed to Chirayu hospital and is reportedly stable confirmed the doctors. He has also sustained injuries in other body parts but no major injury was visible due to the assault.
The accused were identified as Sohail, Nadeem, Sameer, Farooq(station ) and Farooq (Mandi).
All the accused escaped the spot and are still missing. Police have raided several places in search of the miscreants but remained empty handed till the filing of the report.
Police said that the accused and victim were involved in criminal activities in the past and had a fight over some issue in the past. Fuelled with the old enmity the victim was attacked on Wednesday night.
The movements of the accused were tracked which is confirmed by the way he was attacked as the accused used to be accompanied with his friends and accomplices but on the night when he was attacked no one was accompanying the accused.
Both accused and victim were booked for extortion, assault, bullying and several other crimes in the past and have served jail term.
The police have registered a case under section 307, 147 and 148 of the IPC and have started further investigation.
