A total of 42 minority colleges from Madhya Pradesh have been exempted from participating in the online admission process. Claiming exemption, 90 minority colleges had applied with the Department of Higher Education (DHE). During scrutiny, 48 claims were rejected on Monday.
It is worth mentioning that DHE officials wanted to include minority colleges also in the online admission process to provide same platform of admission to all the students but minority colleges protested against it stating flouting of section 30 (A) of the constitution.
After which DHE ordered all the minority claiming colleges of state to submit minority certificate issued by National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions (NCMEI) or State Minority Welfare department. Colleges were asked to submit the certificate by May 24.
Most of the minority colleges claiming exemption from the online admission process had submitted documents, among them only 42 were exempted from the online admission process.
Bhopal School of Social Science (BSSS), Indira Priyadarshini College, Jawaharlal Nehru College etc are the main colleges that have been exempted by the DHE from the online admission process.
But these colleges also have to upload their admission related information on DHE’s portal every day and need to finish admissions by July 31.
Those colleges which have not been exempted from the online admission process will have to upload their data on the portal of DHE within next few days. DHE Commissioner VS Niranjan said that exemption has been given according to the rules of the constitution only.
