Gross negligence by ambulance staff of Guna District Hospital resulted in the tragic death of a three-year-old girl after oxygen ran out in the ambulance transporting her to Bhopal. The ambulance staff further abandoned the child at the gate of Biora Civil Hospital and fled without providing a referral slip or admitting her.

The child, identified as Harshita Kushwaha, a resident of village Patna in Guna district, was admitted to Guna Government Hospital on Thursday due to high fever. As her condition worsened, doctors referred her to Bhopal at 6:40 am on Friday.

However, about 5 km before reaching Beawar, the oxygen supply in the ambulance was exhausted. Upon checking, the second oxygen cylinder was also found empty. Upon arrival at Biora Civil Hospital, the ambulance staff left the girl at the hospital gate, threw out the luggage, and fled the scene with the necessary referral documents.

Harshita’s grandfather, Omkar Singh Kushwaha, expressed his anguish over the negligence of both the ambulance staff and the doctors at Guna District Hospital. He stated, "We stopped the vehicle when the oxygen ran out, but the second cylinder was also empty. Somehow, we reached Biora Civil Hospital, but the ambulance staff abandoned us and took away the necessary papers."

Dr. J.K. Shakya, duty doctor at Beawar Civil Hospital, confirmed that the child was brought to the hospital by ambulance.
