For the upcoming elections in Madhya Pradesh, the reservation process is going on for the post of President of Nagar Palika-Nagar Parishad. There are a total of 99 municipalities, out of which the chairperson seats in 28 municipalities have been reserved for OBCs. The reservation process is going on in the auditorium of Ravindra Bhavan, Bhopal.
The process was first started by making reservation for the Scheduled Castes. 15 posts have been reserved for Scheduled Castes, out of which 8 posts have been reserved for women. At the same time, 6 seats were reserved for ST for the post of president in the municipal palika of the state, out of which three have been reserved for women. 50 seats are unreserved out of which 25 seats have been reserved for women. Many leaders also raised objections during the process.
There will be no new reservation for the post of mayor of 16 municipal corporations of the state, in which only the reservation process for the mayor done in December 2020 has been validated.
There are total 16 Municipal Corporations, 99 Nagar Palikas and 298 Nagar Parishads in the state. The process of reservation of city councils is going on in the auditorium of Ravindra Bhavan.
