Environment is not merely a god gift but also our heritage and its conservation is the responsibility of each and every element, may it be an animal or human being. This message is being conveyed in the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya by the Poubilai — a giant python.

Poubilai is not on an episode in the series of presenting objects collected from various communities inhabiting in the distant areas of the country in an interesting and educational way to the masses, who are also the stake holders of this intellectual property but also an initiation of developing a common concern and understanding the role of museum for society.

Craft skill of folk India is incredible, because it does not have only the versatile use of tools but also includes the emotional aspect, respect and the belief due to which whatever it creates is amazing and inspite of being individual, shared by irrespective of whatever it may be- a beautiful piece of textile, ornament, mask or a giant python.

Displayed as the single object in the special gallery of Veethi Sankul 21-feet-long giant size python 'Poubilai' is a centre of attraction and curiosity and highlighting several universal issues in an interrogative manner.

School children in group of 40 students visited the exhibition and were introduced with Poubilai and its relevance with society and environment through paintings prepared by contemporary artists, and being conscious towards the conservation of this great heritage of nature as well. They expressed their feelings through clay models and paintings on paper after the guided tour to the exhibition.

An All India painting competition for children on the related theme will also be organised by the museum.
