BU officers, staff up in arms over Govt decision

SR
It is quite evident that corruption and politics galore in the universities of Madhya Pradesh, and the Barkatullah University proves this notion further. University officers stated that they would protest against the posting of an outsider in BU.
While talking to media  on Wednesday, BU Registrar Sanjay Tiwari said that it is true that politics is prevailing in the universities of the State and the university staff and officers are working to eradicate it.
It does not mean that State Government will send some outsider with no experience of university administration to work with us. University officers and employees have initiated protest against posting of deputy collectors in the universities as Registrar. A memorandum has been sent to the Principal Secretary of Department of Higher Education (DHE) in this regard and officers and employees protested between 4 pm and 5 pm in all the universities of State simultaneously.
Under the banner of Madhya Pradesh State University Officers and Employees Union Joint Committee (MPSUOEUJC) officers and employees are demanding rolling back of the order.
It is worth mentioning that State Government has posted Deputy Collector Varahmurti Mishra as Registrar in Barkatullah University (BU) and Additional Collector Akshay Kumar Singh as Registrar of Rani Durgavati University Jabalpur on Tuesday.
Joint Committee Convener B Bharti said that State Government itself is flouting rules, teachers and state government officers can be posted on upto 25 per cent posts of Registrars only, which means out of six registrars only two can be non-university cadre officers.
Bharti further said that presently two such posts of registrars are occupied by Professor Anand Mishra in Jiwaji University and by Professor Brajesh Singh in Rewa University.
Bharti said that university officers and employees will not let join any outsider in their cadre posts and if Government does not roll back the order then universities will remain closed.
Bharti said that a person needs to be at least post graduate with 55 per cent marks to even apply for university officer’s post through PSC while for deputy collector the eligibility is just graduation.WIth this  State Government is diminishing the opportunities for assistant registrars and deputy registrars to become registrar.
The posting of deputy collectors on the posts of Registrar has been done on the demand of Department of Higher Education (DHE). DHE Principal Secretary JN Kansotiya has demanded posting of deputy collectors to eradicate corruption and prevailing lobbying in the university.
