A 20-year-old youth Rahul, a relative of former MlA Govind Singh Rajput, committed suicide by shooting from a licensed pistol here on Monday. It has been reported that the incident took place accidentally, when the youth was trying to get a selfie with pistol pointing on his temple.
Police said, the victim, a resident of Sagar, along with his uncle Moorat Singh, his friend Pushpendra and driver Javed had reached Bhopal on Sunday night and stayed at the flat of Moorat Singh in Mata Mandir locality.
The victim Rahul alias Surya Pratap Singh was set to leave for Indore this morning for counseling for admission in engineering college.
Family sources said that his uncle was taking bath when he heard the sound of gunshots. When he came out, Rahul was found lying in a pool of blood. He was rushed to the Hamidia Hospital where he was declared dead.
Superintendent of Police Anshuman Singh, who inspected the spot, said that two gunshots were fired from Singh’s licensed pistol. Police are investigating the death.
The investigation conducted so far, suggested that the victim was quite intelligent in studies and probably, he was trying to click a selfie with the pistol and accidentally the trigger was pulled. Moorat Singh told that there was nothing that could have led to suicide by Rahul. He was quite happy for the counseling and admission in engineering college.
Rahul is grandson of Gulab Singh, the elder brother of former Congress MlA Govind Singh Rajput.
