A total of 13.37 lakh high tension and low tension electricity connections were inspected by East, Central and West Region Power Distribution Companies of the
State in different areas in the year 2016-17.
Irregularities in 2.36 lakh electricity connections were found or cases of power theft were registered during the inspection.
A recovery of Rs 205.86 crore has been made by three companies against the cases. During this period, 32,381 cases of power theft or cases of irregularities were presented in the special courts.
The East Region Power distribution Company has made recovery of Rs 66.02 crore against 1.09 lakh cases of power theft or on finding irregularities during the inspection of total 4.82 lakh electricity connections in Jabalpur, Sagar and Rewa areas in the year 2016-17. At the same time 22,234 cases were presented in the special court.
A total of 68,241 power theft or cases of irregularities were registered during the inspection of 7.01 lakh electricity connections by the West Region Power Distribution Company in Indore and Ujjain areas. A recovery of Rs 84.70 crore has been made by the company. During the same period, 7,031 cases were presented in the special court.
The Central Power Distribution Company during the inspection of 1.54 lakh electricity connections in Bhopal and Gwalior areas has found 58,530 cases of power theft or irregularities. A recovery of Rs 55.13 crore has been made by the company from the consumers. A total of 3116 cases were presented in the special court.
