‘Cong Govt won’t try to settle scores’

Girish Sharma

Kamal Nath government in Madhya Pradesh shall not act as per vendetta or try settling scores. This was stated by state Law and Legislative Affairs Minister PC Sharma in an exclusive chat with The Pioneer.

Sharma said that as per the expectations of the Chief Minister Kamal Nath, he is out for fulfilling the promises made in the election manifesto of Congress party.

At present, there was only one point included from his department and he stated that he would complete it within a couple of weeks.

Political cases registered against Congress and other political parties would be withdrawn soon.

He informed that the Vyapam scam, which spoilt career of thousands of students, would also be reviewed again.

He stated that the Chief Minister has categorically said that there would be no action out of vengeance.

“We would act accordingly,” he added.

Since, Sharma is two time Congress legislator, is selection as minister was confirmed because the Chief Minister had categorically stated that there is no chance in the cabinet for the first timers.

Besides, there were only two faces from the central region of the State- Arif Aqeel and PC Sharma.

Sharma says that he is quite happy with his portfolio of Law and Legislative Affairs and Affiliated to CM.

There are two ministers, who have been affiliated to the CM- PC Sharma and Bala Bachchan.

The work allocation from Chief Minister’s eight departments was done on Thursday. In the department allocation, Sharma has been given Public Relations, Science and Technology, Aviation, Religious Trust and Endowment department from the Chief Minister. PC Sharma won the assembly election from Bhopal South-West constituency defeating former Revenue Minister Uma Shankar Gupta.

He feels that besides several other factors, Gupta’s adamant behavior was one of the reasons responsible for his defeat. “The message was quite clear for months, but he could not sense it,” Sharma added.

Sharma’s supporters feel that after 1998, despite having lost one Lok Sabha (in 2014) and one State assembly election (in 2013), his victory in the 2018 polls is a major come back.

For over two decades, Sharma is considered as a leader connected with people. Such an image helped him winning the elections against Gupta, who was considered a tall figure against him.
