The Indian Skills Report 2015 revealed that employers banked heavily on internal referrals and social media (Facebook, Twitter, linkedIn) to hire resources.

·         The report showed that the reliance of companies on internal referrals and social media to hire talent in 2014 had been phenomenal. If all the 125 companies combined together hired six people via social media in 2013, then in comparison, they hired 12 people via the same route in 2014, a phenomenal jump of 100 per cent.

This trend will become more prominent and reliable as we move into 2016 and 2017.

·         There were two main hiring trends: quantitative and qualitative. Quantitative demands more number of people, for instance a hub centre for an e-commerce company would need to hire about 500 people at junior levels, not available through portals. Field sourcing is a new concept introduced by Acreaty management Consultant Pvt ltd, where a van with recruiters actually picks up people from the market physically.

Industries like consulting require more of quantative hiring, which is more difficult and rigorous. In 2015, the role of portals and employee referrals went down.

Social networking and head-hunting emerged as the newest trends in hiring.
