Supra SAEINDIA finale

Pragya Mittal

The finale of the fourth season of SUPRA SAEINDIA (Society of Automotive Engineers India) competition is all set to take place at Chennai from July 15 to 19, 2015 where engineering students across the country will be showcasing their prototype of Formula one car. The competition provides a practical exposure to the students and encourages them to face real challenges in the automobile industry.

Around 2200 students from 167 engineering colleges have participated this year. Talking about the challenges, Amit Singh, a student of lovely Professional University who made it to the finals, says: “The biggest challenge was to maintain the team work with the normal college schedule. Another challenge is the market survey about the different products, where market dealers were not helpful to give us the information about different high-potential products and their specifications that we can use in our car.”

Students say that referring to the books for research work helped them a lot to understand the dynamics and statistics for creating the prototype of Formula One car. ‘We’ve to come up with new innovations including how we can include new technology the simplest way. We are all set to vroom,” Singh says.
