SANGEETA YADAV

David Bobby talks to sangeeta yadav about ASIS’ vision to create school of warm-heartedness for emotional and mental development of children

Tell us about ASIS (Anglo Schools international Services)IJ

The ASIS is a federation which has 12 boarding schools of United Kingdom formed to get the best Indian students to study in our boarding schools. These boarding schools are trying to put up quite significant scholarships so that the Indian students can come and study and to tie up with various schools in India for student and teacher exchange programmes.

What was the main agenda of the recent education tour in IndiaIJ

Indians imbibe the combination of spiritual and emotional values into the classroom alongside very strong academic abilities which makes them ideal candidates. This is very much in consonance with our vision — to provide school of warmheartness through humanistic approach.

Please explain this vision of warm-heartedness in detailIJ

This school of warm-heartedness brings out the best spiritual, emotional, mental and physical aspect in a student. There is a very strong need for creating school and education of warm heartedness. Seven out of the 10 jobs that the youth will pursue and  get, has not been invented yet. Just to teach on the basis of academic skills is no longer going to be enough. It’s too narrow. Education should touch human dimension and should recognise humanity as a whole.  There are number of qualities that are necessary for teaching  and our teachers need to address all these issues.

What is the USP of ASIS’ boarding schoolIJ

The courses offered by this school are designed to empower students to adapt themselves in all situations. At the age of 16-18years, students tend to change their career options four to five times so we aim to provide them career consultancy as well. We teach them that just to qualify is not enough. We get the students involved in public speaking, generate emotional intelligence and manage their moods and provide them with happiness in their life. The curriculum adapts and explores these emotional and humanistic values. It unfolds the senses of gratitude which is a great counselor to the children.

Tell us about scholarships offeredIJ

An entrance exam has been set up to streamline the admission and Rs 7 crore has been set aside as the scholarship grants for the students. Some schools are offering 100 per cent scholarship that includes tuition and boarding fee while others offer a 50 to 25 per cent off.
