'Re-exam a sound move'

Pragya Mittal

The re-examination for AIPMT will give a better opportunity for preparation and a fair test, says Pragya Mittal

Students will undergo same pressure and anxiety as following the Supreme Court’s decision to the CBSE to re-conduct the AIPMT 2015 on July 25, 2015. This decision seems to be a fair chance for the candidates who protested over the paper leak issue. Those who have applied within the time span of December 1, 2014 to January 31, 2015 will get to prepare their best and have a fair examination.
Devina Verma, who will be re-appearing for AIPMT exam, says: “It’s fair enough to re- conduct the exam so that bright students get a fair chance and it hardly matters to study for one more month than compromising your seat because of unfair means used by some other students.”
With the advent of paper leaks issue, Hagan Vohra, a faculty of IITians Pace Education Pvt ltd, South Extension, Delhi feels that it has become a serious issue and question the credibility of exams. “There should be two stage online procedure to conduct the exam to avoid leaking of exam papers,” Vohra says.
Not just the issue of paper leak. Students also found this year’s paper difficult than the previous seasons. “Almost 20 questions of Biology were out of NCERT, Physics was a bit lengthy but Chemistry was easy. Students need to focus more on NCERT for Physics and Chemistry section,” Vohra advises.
Ashutosh Modi, executive director, EntrancePrime.com emphasises that the candidates should have a balance in preparing with the subjects. “Students should be focus on the topics they are best in and should not touch the new topic that they didn’t touch earlier.
“They should concentrate on exam practice rather than studying the syllabus again as they have already been there for the exam and they know the concepts already. Also students should focus more on Biology as it contains more weightage and it will define the result of the students,” Modi says.
On the other hand, Aakash Chaudhary, director, Aakash Medical Institute advises that students should also practise sample papers.
“Students should practice more and more full length model test papers rather than doing questions they have done earlier.
It will help them to attempt the paper in time. They should prepare for the Biology section more efficiently as it contains facts but no numericals to avoid mistakes and calculations,” Chaudhary says.
