When did lisaa set shop in IndiaIJ

lisaa France has been around for more than 30 years, with multiple schools located in Paris, Nantes, Rennes and Strasbourg. In India, we established school in Gurgaon in 2011 with an inaugural batch of four students in our foundation programme. Recently we launch ed our second institute in Bangalore. We have also started an additional course in interior, environmental and product design this year.

Courses on offerIJ

The school is a multidisciplinary institution with a variety of design disciplines in the same campus. We offer degrees in fashion, interior design and graphic design.

What is the quotient required to become successful in this fieldIJ

A designer’s work revolves around solving problems occurring in permanent and temporary spaces and making functional, user friendly and aesthetic products. Hence, besides being creative, a designer needs to be very observant, curious and hardworking. It is very important that they are culturally aware and sensitive to the needs of a global and international audience.

Any tie-upsIJIJ

Besides our parent school in France, we have a tie up with Karnataka State Open University and are in partnership with Rochester University, USA and with the Ministry of Culture and Communication In France.

Why a design school in IndiaIJ

When we brought lisaa to India we wanted offer a wide spectrum of courses. This is because in India all these fields of design have opened up and have a huge scope. While fashion is well represented in India, the fields of graphic, web design and animation have come up a lot, though Interior design and product design are still under represented.

There are excellent prospects for students after completing their design courses. They can work as employees in design companies, architecture/interior designers offices, specialty stores and even start their own business.

What is the present status of designing in IndiaIJ

At present, designers are in great demand and there is a tremendous growth potential. Since globalisation, India has become a hub for international companies. The need for offices, stores and residential spaces for their employees has increased; hence interior architects are in demand. The print and electronic media companies are expanding, there is  demand for graphic designers. There is growth potential in fashion, jewellery.

What kind of internship  and job placements, is the institute offeringIJ

We have partnered with over 200 brands, firms and design houses on creative projects. Students will gain exposure and benefit from these partnerships. They will also be encouraged to apply for internships and placements at these design houses and companies in India and abroad.

How can we determine the rate of success in this fieldIJ

The rate of success in this field can be determined by the requirements of industry. The answer to this question can be seen in our everyday lives. Since designers are needed to design practically everything around us, right from complex machinery like medical equipment and cars to everyday items like tooth brushes, mugs, utensils, there is never ever going to be a ceiling on the kind of success you can achieve in the field of design.
