The portal, Mykindofjob.com is about people who are looking for an alternative when it comes to finding themselves a job. We provide jobs for those who are looking for avenues to monetise their individual skills. We have some amazing job opportunities to where people can connect with other job seekers and work out a schedule that is flexible to them.
How did the idea of this portal come to youIJ
I have been in the Human Resource for a very long time. So I had a good idea about what kind of skills are needed by the industry and the kind of people that they are looking for when it comes to hiring. Then when my father retired, I realised that there was a whole talent pool which can be tapped into. But then people at that age are not looking for a full-time job. Some want to work because they just want to supplement their income others want to work to keep themselves busy. That is when the idea to have job portal for people who are looking for work once they retire or looking for flexible work hours came up. Then there are many women who are looking for part-time work. We are the bridge that will connect the job seekers with the employers.
Do you think that Indian job market is ready to hire people who have retiredIJ
Yes, there are many companies who are looking for people to hire either on a part-time basis or even consultancy basis. It will all depend on what kind of job one is looking for. For example: A retired clerk may not be so opposed to doing some menial job but a person who is a trained professional in his field will definitely not want to take up any job that comes his way. This doesn’t mean that there are no opportunities for skilled people. The only different will be that he will probably need to keep an open his options open.
How has the response been so farIJ
We have recently launched our portal; it has only been a week or so. So far, the response to the kind of service we are providing has been well-received. We hope that as more and more people come to know about us, we will have just as many people seeking jobs as well as companies offering jobs.
Will hiring retired people not hamper the jobs of the people who are already working in a particular company (in the same age group)IJ
Not at all. lIke I mentioned earlier as well. The requirement of the people who are looking for jobs after retirement is very different. They may not want to go to the office every day or may work on a project basis. People who are working full-time have a different job profile. The two employees don’t share the same agenda. So there is no conflict of interest here.
Where do you see yourself one-year down the lineIJ
We hope to become the best job portal for people who are looking for flexibility when it comes to working. We want people to know that there is no need to kill their skill after they retire but that there are opportunities for them.
