Pioneer

Innovation has become an important trend in today’s fast changing world. Manav Rachna College of Engineering (MRCE) has been a trend setter in this regard and has come up with various innovative projects like solar powered rickshaw, working models of pneumatic door controller to magnetically levitated wind turbine, amphibious vehicle capable of operating on both land and water.

Of late, MRCE organised ed the showcase of the amphibious bicycle at the sports complex, Sector 12, Faridabad. This particular project has been developed by a team of five members under the mentorship of Sanjay Taneja, associate professor, department of mechanical engineering. The name of the team members are Sahil Arora, Mohit Arora, Rahul Garg, Kapil Ahuja and Tushar Singh. This amphibious vehicle will act as a mode of transport in the flood affected areas. It has been made using a mild steel frame, and four — 20 liters water cans. It can carry a maximum of 75 kg of weight at one go. The steel frame is detachable and hence the cycle can be used as and when on the land and water.

The vehicle is cost–effective and comes almost as the same price as that of a normal bicycle.

The amphibious vehicle can be used for exercise, relaxation, recreation, or just getting from one place to another.
