A career in tattoo-making

PNS

In association with team Stop Acid Attacks of Chhanv Foundation, Vikas Malani, founder, Body Canvas Tattoos and Piercings, conducted a workshop in the Capital recently with the acid attack survivors on career prospects in tattoo making. Acid attack survivor laxmi and other members Roopa, Ritu, Soniya, Madhu were made familiar with the tattoo equipments and machines, and even try their hands at tattooing. They also got themselves inked enthusiastically. The initiative aimed at providing these survivors a privilege of learning tattooing and earning confidence for life by taking it forward as a professional tattoo artist.

A 22-year old acid attack fighter, Ritu while diligently drawing a sketch says that: “I am finding the profession of a tattoo artist very dynamic, challenging and interesting. I’m considering applying for a scholarship at Body Canvas Tattoos”.

Talking about the workshop, Malani said: “With this association, we aim to empower the women survivors of acid attacks by giving them free training to become professional tattoo artists. We would like to boost their confidence and welcome them to Body Canvas’ positive environment and energetic workforce”.
