The University of Michigan (U-M) signed an MoU with Ashoka University, an upcoming University in the NCR with a vision of providing Indian students with an Ivy league-quality education. The MoU was signed by Mary Sue Coleman, president, U-M and Pramath Raj Sinha, founder and trustee of Ashoka University.

The MoU seeks to promote cooperation in curricular and faculty development and exchange programmes to create an Indian university with a focus on liberal education that is at par with global standards.

Pramath Raj Sinha, founder and trustee, Ashoka University said: “Ashoka University is a collaborative philanthropic vision that aims at providing a transformative academic experience to Indian students.  With an objective to learn from the best, we’ve partnered with the University of Michigan to emulate its academic pedigree and explore opportunities for learning, research and training for students and faculty.”

Commenting on the occasion, Mary Sue Coleman, president, University of Michigan, said: “We see India as a land of opportunity where a young population is eagerly seeking to stamp its presence on the world map. We’re pleased to partner with Ashoka University and assist them in their endeavor to create tomorrow’s leaders. Similar to our educational bonds in China, Ghana, South Africa and Brazil in recent years, we look forward to strengthening our presence in India.”
