How AI certifications are powering careers

Chintan Dave

Artificial intelligence (AI) is powering a revolution across the professional landscape. While there are concerns about job disruption, AI is equally creating opportunities for professionals to boost productivity and efficiency. Industries are rapidly adopting AI, and this surge has created a massive demand for skilled talent.

At such a juncture, it is evident that traditional education and hiring methods must evolve with industry needs. A recent study revealed that nine in ten professionals see GenAI skills as critical for career growth in 2025. With 97 million new AI jobs expected globally by the end of this year, professionals need a differentiated approach to remain visible in the market.

Solving Professional Needs

AI certifications have emerged as a strong solution that bridges the credibility of professionals with staffing requirements. These certifications offer a direct path from learning to earning. Fresh graduates, mid-career professionals, and even non-tech workers are increasingly embracing them as a means of career transformation.

Since 2022, AI-related job postings have surged over 60 per cent year-on-year, far outpacing the growth of overall job ads. Today, one in four new tech jobs requires some AI expertise, more than double the share in 2022. Employers are clear about what they expect: “Do you know how to work with AI?”

At the heart of it, certifications are more than just a skill listed on a résumé. They serve as proof of ability, giving hiring managers confidence without lengthy verification. In a fast-paced hiring environment, credibility is currency, and certifications provide exactly that.

Credible Reskilling

With résumés easy to embellish, verifiable certifications are becoming the benchmark for employability. They ensure that candidates have the right skill set and aptitude for AI-driven roles. A McKinsey Global Institute report estimates that up to 14 per cent of the global workforce will need to switch occupations due to AI-driven disruptions by 2030. This means that both current employees and the new workforce must be reskilled and certified to remain competitive.

Unlike traditional programmes, AI certifications focus on practical skills and simulations based on real business problems. Some even carry additional weight through recognised platforms, such as NASSCOM’s Future Skills Prime, which lends trust and credibility.

Democratising The Jobs Market

Such AI certifications are democratising the big opportunity. Previously, geographic barriers meant such certifications could be achieved only in metropolitan cities. But today it is achievable from smaller cities too. The economic impact of such AI certifications extends far beyond individual careers. They drive broader economic mobility across communities.

Their multiplication effect strengthens local economies and symbolises India’s digital transformation. The message for India’s workforce is clear: embrace AI certifications today to secure tomorrow’s opportunities. At the heart of it, certifications will pave the way for candidates to be recognised as adaptable — that is, their résumés would become not just an asset, but a crucial survival tool.
