What makes Sachin great

Bharat Bhushan Padmadeo

literally a festive farewell to Sachin Tendulkar is on its way, which he richly deserves on account of his exemplary achievements.  India naturally has reasons to be proud of him for creating milestones, which cricketing stars across the globe would be vying for.  Sachin is going to retire soon from active cricket after 24 years of stay on the field — a feat by itself exemplifying his extraordinary endurance power. It is, therefore, time to reflect as to what made Sachin such an iconic figure.

let us first see how his numbers speak. The numbers that emerge for a April 24, 1973, born person are 6, 4 and 2, which put together makes out 3 as his destiny number. These numbers respectively correspond to the planets Venus, Uranus/Rahu, Moon and Jupiter.  He, thus, proves true to the work-spirit, humanism and finesse of Venus; the genius of Uranus as well unquenched thirst for achieving more and more as Rahu would signify; the public glare of Moon; and the wisdom of Jupiter. The number corresponding to the name Sachin totals 9, identified with Mars, which qualifies him to make out a legendary sporting talent. He made an entry into cricket at the age of 11 that makes out 2, his year number.  His first debut in Test cricket came on completion of 16 years which totals 7, the alternate number of Moon and on November 6 which corresponds to his birth number. His debut in one day international happened on 18.12.1989, which sums up to his destiny number 3.  He was the first to score a double century in one-day cricket and that took place on February 24, corresponding to his birth number 6. He now retires on completion of 40 years, his month number and in 2013 which totals 6.

let’s now come to Sachin’s astrological chart. A well-fortified Uranus in his lagna, identified with a person’s individuality, seems to have played major role in the making of a legend. For, the potential to arm a being with extraordinary talent on the strength of good reasoning as well as inventive and innovative mind is intrinsic with Uranus. That primarily qualified him to cross all boundaries to be at the top of the world in his own field, and even more so because benevolent Jupiter further lends strength through its favourable aspect.

It is again not a sheer coincidence that Uranus occupies the lagna sign of another legend of his time, Sunil Gavaskar. What further add to Sachin’s strength is the fiery Mars in exaltation, and that too in the fifth house, both vital to the making of a sporting talent. For, that grants him with the fire-power, grit, endurance and fighting spirit needed to scale great heights. Mars, again well-oriented to Uranus and karmic Saturn, brings in fearlessness, self-reliance and leadership skills. It also makes him practical and thorough in his work with eye on minor details.

Wisdom-signifying Jupiter, favourably placed to lagna lord Mercury, and incidentally the planet identified with intelligence, brings in clarity in his vision and thought, and makes him an optimist. Jupiter, again well placed to mystique Neptune, makes him idealistic, humanitarian, gentle and determined. Jupiter also favourably placed to karmic Saturn posited in the spiritually oriented ninth house, grants him patience, persistence, perseverance and makes him honest and truthful. Mercury, favourably disposed to Saturn and Neptune, accounts for his vision and orderly mind, besides being methodical and refined in his conduct. The two luminaries have played a prominent role in bringing him into public glare to the envy of the world cricketing order. The Sun in exaltation brings in the confidence, will and resolve, needed to pursue his ambition in right earnest. And true to the astrological symbol marked with war sign Sagittarius, where his mind-signifying Moon is posited, and that too in Pushkar Navamsa, he carries the endurance akin to a war-horse and strike-power of an archer who could blindly hit the bull’s eye.

Sachin has enough negative features as well that occasionally put him through difficult times, as would adverse placement of the Sun and Saturn, Moon and Neptune, and Mercury and Rahu would imply.  But then his will to overcome these limitations through conscious efforts is what really made him a legend. What would have really made things easier for him is his spiritual strength, as is exemplified by common sub-lordship of the three primary co-ordinates vital to spiritual sense, the lagna, fifth and ninth cusps.

Sachin retires from active cricket, but he will continue to inspire and serve as a guiding spirit to budding cricketers let us all wish him happy and fulfilling times ahead.
