The drama of life in sight is nothing but projection of what lies within one’s own self. Remember, all actions on our part — creative or limiting — before they come into play, originate in mind, and are then processed in the laboratory of mind itself, for translating them into effect.
And the character and content of what we ideate, is again inspired by our inlaid samskara — memory imprints laid down in the deep realm of mind, coming as they may as a carryover from the past. Here again, the way we react or respond to a situation — intelligently or otherwise — is subject to how the inlaid samskara would have oriented the frame of individual-specific mind.
So, both the enemy and the creative-spirit exist in seed-form within our inner-self. Invariably, we come to this world with a mix of both, which given the condition congenial to either prompt one or the other side overtaking mind’s drive.
Experience suggests that the enemy within remains on strike most of the time as contrasted to the potential side, which needs identification, acknowledgment, honing, and finally modulation in contemporary terms. These negatives vitiate our thought process, which, in the first place, stands in way of visualising things in the right perspective, and evidently to our detriment. And if not derail creative initiatives, get the quality of efforts compromised.
Even when apparently not doing anything, it does not let mind rest in peace — it keeps itself engaged in breeding variegated wishful thoughts, often in conflict with each other. It does not spare even our dreams when it engages our mind attending to its projections. Here, I am reminded of a verse by poet Maithili Sharan Gupta reflecting upon the state of lakshman’s mind, while on guard when lord Sri Ram and Sita were sleeping during their 14 years of exile in the forest:
“Koi paas na rehne par bhi jan-man maun nahin rehta, aap-aap ki kehta hai wahaan, aap-aap hi ki hi sunta (Even if no body is around, mind is never silent, it keeps speaking and listens to itself).”
It, therefore, becomes incumbent upon us to remain on full mental alert to spot and kill the enemy well on time. Otherwise, it will not be possible to come out with our intelligent best, while pursuing our creative urges, or even when responding to challenges confronting us. In this context, I am reminded of the import of the symbolism of goddess Durga, supposedly whose presence was made to free us from the devilry of demons. It is said that the demons are tricksters, who are capable of changing forms to their asking as would delude us.
And to contend them all, goddess Durga, unlike other Gods, is armed with various weapons to combat each such demonic presence. That calls for being on full mental alert to identify the right weapon for the right occasion. The demons in this symbolism stand for all the negatives, egotistical conditioning of mind, and all such distracting influences within that would marginalise our creative potential. Astrology can serve a great deal in identifying these limiting factors with a fair amount of precision.
In a specific case, let us look at the astrological pointers suggesting the inimical forces lying within demanding attention. The Sun is conjunct Neptune, both placed adverse to Moon. This needs to be read together with Moon favourably aligned to Jupiter, but locked in adverse formation to Venus. The implication is that the person remains stuck to his fanciful ideations mostly distanced from ground realities. When things do not happen on expected lines, first, he begins sulking. He then gets so touchy and sensitive that even on trivial provocation he gets over-exercised.
That in turn, brings into play his unpredictable mood-swings, irritable and temperamental nature, as would debilitated Mars in the third house, locked in adverse formation to Uranus imply. On top of that is Mercury unfavourably aligned to Rahu tenanted in the sign it owns, also placed opposite Jupiter.
The implication is that he lacks patience, and is not able to remain focused to priority preferences for long. His mind keeps randomly wandering hither and thither not allowing him time and space for due diligence, which accounts for his misplaced reasoning and judgments quite often.
These self-limiting factors have been so far playing spoil sports with his dramatic talents that could have otherwise led him to great height. I am sure he will work upon them in right earnest to unfold his inlaid-potential in full.
