It is good to dream. For, it offers you some credible purpose to look forward, which you may wish to work towards. It also keeps you motivated to achieve that end. “But dream awake”, said our ex-President, late Dr APJ Abdul Kalam.
When you dream in a sleep mode, it could be randomly sought after an unachievable wild dream, and if blindly chased, may eventually prove shattering. Your indwelling desires may find reflection, but your conscious mind being dormant, you may not be able to visualise ground realities. As a consequence, you may not be able to articulate your actions well. And when you fail, you become a victim of an identity crisis of your own making. For, the feel of setback brings in a sense of guilt. You turn pessimistic and gloomy. And as the mortal world moves, you also become a subject of societal ridicule. You end up stressed, potent enough to lead you into a state of depression. Here begins a never ending struggle to re-establish your identity, which may prove nerve breaking.
While dreaming awake, however, you may be able to discriminate upon and assess whether you have the wherewithal necessary to make it to your dream destination. And, if found short of it, you may work towards making up for your inadequacies. Also, you would be able to identify, acknowledge, and work upon your indwelling imperfections to let your indwelling potential come into full play unhindered. It is on these grounds that we have evolved thus far from our primitive state to a fairly developed state as on date. Also, one would be able to visualise the challenges lying ahead. Accordingly, one may gear up to put in one’s best in pursuance of one’s dream destination, while at the same time intelligently taking on the challenges coming in the way. The probability of success becomes evidently higher.
The irony, however, is that youths are vulnerable to get caught up in the tempting influences of the glare and glitters of the seeming world. Given their age, bound up with energy and spirited enough that they are, carry the sense that nothing is unachievable. Seeing the cases of some of the successful dreamers, they carry the feel that if others can do it, why can’t they. They get tempted to do something alike and often get into speculative mode, which carries equal probability of failure and success. The modern educated lot do some ground survey after they pick up some idea. But they seldom care for self assessment, whether they are grounded enough to make it successfully to their dream destination.
A case in point is that of a well educated young man who was otherwise doing very well with his career. A situation arose when his work environmental became uncomfortable. In disgust, he suddenly quit his job and decided to take up an entrepreneurial venture. He picked up some ideas but had not done due diligence necessary to before he left his job. Now wandering with varied ideas, he has not been able to identify what particular project he should take up. He has failed to elicit due support from his near and dear ones either. In a state of frustration, he has sought advice how to move forward.
I advised him to first make note of the fact that he is right to dream big, but it should not be distanced from ground realities. In that spirit, he needs to first self assess whether he is grounded enough to successfully make it to his dream destination.
In the above context, I made him aware of his personality infirmities. The Sun and Jupiter together, both locked in adverse formation to mischievous Neptune makes him a big dreamer, but distanced from ground realities. That also makes him carry peculiar beliefs. Jupiter ill-aligned to Mars when read together with his Virgo lagna, makes him suffer from ‘I am always right’ syndrome, not open to check upon ground realities with an open mind. Mars and Moon together, both placed adverse to Venus makes him crazy for money, temperamental, and too much touchy and sensitive. That tells upon his inter-personal relationship skill. lagna lord Mercury ill-disposed off to Uranus accounts for his impaired reasoning and judgment.
Given the circumstances, the young man should take up a job immediately, so that his and family’s basic comfort level does not get compromised. He should then work upon his indwelling frailties so that he becomes groomed enough to lead from the front, before he thinks of entrepreneurial desire afresh.
