Detoxify your mind fully

Bharat Bhushan Padmadeo

While discussing the concept of meditation, it was explained in the previous issue why it is important to identify the specific mantra and its corresponding symbol for every individual seeker. For, that alone could address the individual-specific infirmities and help rebuild one’s personality in way that one could intelligently and smartly negotiate the callings of the emerging times. One, thus, could lay down the ground for a better tomorrow.

However, in order to make the most out of the meditation process, it is important to first prepare grounds for pursuing meditation in right earnest. That calls for detoxifying the mind so as to purge the inconsequential and negative memory imprints carried over from the past that often cloud our vision. And it needs no elaboration that clouded vision would prompt us to get into unintelligent acts and with obvious ramifications. The negative memory imprints thus eased out, we could get rid of a lot of inbuilt fear and resident insecurities, which in turn raises our level of confidence and helps one invoking one’s own faith. With the inconsequential memories taken care of in the process, lots of distracting elements within the mind are taken care of, which helps improve our focus on priority preferences. And, with the cleared mind-space, the scope of our vision and intelligence expands. This process which again is a format of meditation, by itself, is enough to bring in enough of positive dividends. Having pursued this process for a while, one becomes qualified to take up guided-meditation as suggested in the previous issue, which then helps reframe one’s personality.

The mind-detoxification process is simple and safe, which can be taken up by anybody. The process will, however, work better and move faster if it is done under proper guidance.

The process

  •    lie down straight on a flat surface on your back (face upwards) but relaxed.
  •    Close your eyes.
  •    Register in your mind: “My visible-self is not me. let my true-self unfold.” Just register this as a matter of routine every time you get into the process.
  •     Inhale deep through your nose slowly, and, then slowly exhale.
  • Every time you inhale, say Om in your mind, and when you exhale, say Hari.
  •   While going through the process, you may be flooded with thoughts. Be a silent witness to those thoughts. Do not contest them or engage your mind anyway in the thoughts that are erupting. let the thoughts naturally flow in and out. It may not be easy either.
  •     Continue the exercise for 20 minutes at one go, everyday.

The Rationale

  •  The moment you register in your mind that “my visible-self is not me and that I wish my true potential-self to unfold”, it literally amounts to acknowledging the existence of attitudinal infirmities within, which you wish to get away with. That turns your mind inward so that your potential-self, otherwise lying dormant, unfolds to its full. In a way, it signals the conscious mind to get into the sleep mode, facilitating the sub-conscious to come into play.
  •     With the sub-conscious mind becoming operative, the inlaid imprints begin to surface one after the other that find reflection by way of thoughts flooding the mind.
  • But remember, something lying deep within, if not allowed due passage, cannot get resolved.
  •   So, the thoughts confronting you are in fact emerging to get away from your functional-self, which otherwise keep hounding you from time to time. And, the paradox is that when you are any way low, mentally, emotionally and otherwise, you will not know how these negative imprints overtake mind’s drive and prompt you to react and respond unintelligently. And by the time you realise, the damage is already been done. It is, therefore, necessary to resolve these memories for once and for all. Here, it is important to note that if one seeks the assistance of a proven guide, he/she could analyse the indwelling thoughts and help you resolve them better and faster.
  •    Following this process, you gradually get distanced from all the inconsequential and negative memories. And, with the fresh mind-space thus available, one could engage the available space to process the thoughts objectively and conduct intelligently.
