Owing to hot winds coming from the western direction there is a possibility of a heat wave in Jharkhand in mid-March itself. A yellow alert has been issued in this regard by the Meteorological department on Thursday.
A significant increase in the maximum temperature is likely in the Kolhan region and there is a possibility of a heat wave. At the same time, heat waves can also occur in Kolhan as well as surrounding areas including Palamu and Garhwa on March 15 and 16. The temperature here can reach 40 degrees Celsius.
According to Dr. Abhishek Anand, scientist of the Meteorological Center, the maximum temperature in all the districts of Jharkhand will increase by three to five degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert in areas including Kolhan, Palamu and Garhwa etc.
On March 13, the highest temperature in Jharkhand was recorded in Chaibasa. The maximum temperature here was 39.8 degrees Celsius, which was 6.4 degrees Celsius more than normal. Meanwhile, the maximum temperature of all the districts of the state has gone above 34 degrees Celsius. While on Thursday the lowest temperature of 18.1 degree Celsius was recorded in Bokaro. According to the Meteorological Department, the heat of the sun on Holi day might affect public life.
The Meteorological Department has issued an advisory to avoid the heat. People have been asked to avoid going out in the sun between 12 am and 3pm in the day. People have been advised to not let the body get dehydrated, to avoid the sun, carry an umbrella if absolutely necessary, wear cotton clothes, avoid drinking alcohol, coffee, carbonated soft drinks, avoid eating food with high protein, farmers have been advised to take all precautions in the fields, irrigate the crops regularly, and also protect the animals from the sun.
