The Habibganj police have booked a man for prolonged physical and mental exploitation of a woman on the pretext of promises of love and marriage.
The police have taken swift action, registering a case against the accused, identified as Raunak Singh, also known as Raju Thakur, and have launched an investigation following the victim’s complaint.
The victim, a 22-year-old beautician employed at a local beauty parlor, shared that she first encountered Raunak in 2022. What began as a casual friendship soon turned into what she believed was a romantic relationship. However, she now claims that her trust was betrayed, describing the bond as one-sided and manipulative.
According to the woman’s account, Raunak allegedly raped her multiple times over the past two years, using the promise of marriage as a lure to exploit her. Each time she raised the subject of formalizing their relationship, he reportedly dodged the issue, offering excuses to delay any commitment.
The situation escalated two days ago when, during yet another discussion about marriage, Raunak allegedly turned violent, physically assaulting her before fleeing the scene. Shaken but determined, the young woman approached the Habibganj police station to report the ordeal.
Acting on her complaint, the police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) against Raunak Singh under relevant sections of the law. Police have since launched a manhunt to nabe the accused, who remains at large. A senior police official assured that efforts are underway to track him down, stating, “The accused will be arrested soon, and justice will be served.” students.
