In a shocking broad daylight incident, a farmer from Vidisha, Basant Pratap Singh Rajput, was attacked and robbed near Alpana Trisection on Saturday evening. The crime took place just 50 meters from the Alpana Tiraha police post, but the on-duty policemen failed to intervene.
According to reports, three miscreants arrived in a green auto-rickshaw and stopped Rajput, demanding his mobile phone and cash. When he resisted, one of the accused struck him on the head with a stick, leaving him injured. The assailants then snatched his mobile and fled the scene.
Rajput had traveled to Bhopal and was on his way to Bhopal station from Karond with a friend when the incident occurred around 7:35 PM. The accused intercepted him near the police post, where two of them stepped out and demanded his valuables.
As Rajput protested, one of the miscreants pulled out a stick from the auto and assaulted him before looting his mobile phone.
Despite the attack happening within close proximity of the police post, Head Constable Dharmchandra Khatri and his colleague failed to notice or respond to the crime. A crowd soon gathered at the scene, and a passerby informed the police about the incident.
Following the alert, police officials dialed 100 and rushed Rajput to the hospital for medical treatment. A preliminary investigation has been launched, and officers are scanning CCTV footage to identify and track down the accused.
This incident has raised concerns over police vigilance and public safety in the area, as criminals executed the robbery in broad daylight and near a police post without any immediate intervention.
