Traffic police launches road safety initiative

Saturday, 18 January 2025 | Staff Reporter | BHOPAL

As part of the National Road Safety Month, the Bhopal Traffic Police has introduced a new initiative to promote road safety and responsible driving among auto and e-rickshaw drivers. The campaign was launched in the New Market area, where drivers gathered at Atal Path Marg and pledged to manage their driving arrangements responsibly.

Addressing the participants, Assistant Police Commissioner Shri Ajay Bajpai stressed the significance of adhering to traffic regulations and maintaining controlled speeds. He highlighted the critical role drivers play in ensuring passenger safety and urged them to drop off passengers only at designated stops, avoiding intersections and crowded areas. Shri Bajpai also emphasized the need for route planning and creating a safe travel environment.

The initiative featured a traffic awareness rally with the participation of approximately 80 auto and e-rickshaw drivers. The rally aimed to spread the message of road safety and responsible driving across the city. Drivers were encouraged to prioritize passenger safety and interact courteously, fostering a cooperative atmosphere on Bhopal’s roads.

To ensure safer road conditions, the public was also urged to follow traffic rules diligently and support ongoing efforts to enhance traffic safety. Citizens were reminded to avoid crossing roads at non-designated spots and to cooperate with traffic authorities to create a more organized and secure travel system.

For assistance or to report traffic-related issues, residents can contact the traffic department at 0755-2677340 or 2443850.<This collaborative effort between the Bhopal Traffic Police, auto and e-rickshaw drivers, and the general public aims to reduce accidents and improve road discipline in the city. By fostering awareness and mutual cooperation, Bhopal moves closer to a safer, more efficient traffic system that benefits all.
