State Govt to appoint 60,000 teachers at Govt schools

Friday, 07 February 2025 | PNS | Ranchi

The State Government is going to recruit 60 thousand teachers in Jharkhand. School Education and Literacy Minister Ramdas Soren said that its plan has been prepared and the process will start soon. It is being told that 26 thousand teachers will be appointed through JTET. 10 thousand teachers will be appointed for regional languages. After this, 25-26 thousand more teachers will be appointed. The Education Minister made this announcement in the Foundation Day program of Utkal Samaj in Golmuri. He said that the education department was sluggish earlier, but now this will not work. Officials have been instructed to settle the pending cases soon.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren is also serious about the study of tribal and regional languages. The study of these languages will start in schools from the new session. For this, a team has studied in Bengal and will also go to Odisha if needed. Let us tell you that earlier there was a rule of one teacher for 30-50 children, but now one teacher will be appointed for 10-30 children and 2 teachers for more than 30 children. The education minister said that the new rules will remove the obstacles in the appointment of regional and tribal language teachers.

The education minister assumes importance as recently, the Supreme Court of India has ruled that CTET-qualified candidates will not be eligible for the Jharkhand Assistant Teacher Recruitment 2025. The verdict overturns a previous order by the Jharkhand High Court, which had allowed CTET and other state TET-qualified candidates to apply for the recruitment of 26,001 Assistant Teachers in Jharkhand. With this ruling, only Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test (JTET) qualified candidates will be considered for the final selection process.

The Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) had conducted the Assistant Teacher Recruitment Examination for 26,001 vacancies, but the results were withheld due to legal disputes. The Supreme Court’s decision now excludes all CTET and other state TET candidates from the recruitment process, allowing only JTET pass candidates to qualify.

The court found that the Jharkhand High Court’s earlier order, which permitted CTET candidates to participate, led to unauthorized modifications in the recruitment advertisement and eligibility criteria. Since changes were made after the application process had ended, the Supreme Court ruled them invalid and restored the original eligibility criteria advertisement and eligibility criteria. Since changes were made after the application process had ended, the Supreme Court ruled them invalid and restored the original eligibility criteria.
