Friday, 14 March 2025 | Staff Reporter | Bhopal

During the proceedings of the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar issued an important directive on Thursday regarding the language used by the esteemed members during debates.

The directive was given during the discussion on the motion of thanks to the Governor’s address. The Speaker emphasized the need to maintain decorum and avoid the use of unparliamentary language and personal accusations. Referring to certain unpleasant exchanges that occurred during the debate, he highlighted the dignified tradition of the Madhya Pradesh Assembly, which has earned it a distinguished reputation across the country. However, he expressed concern over the increasing use of inappropriate language and stressed the collective responsibility of all members to uphold the Assembly’s dignity.

In his ruling, the Speaker stated, “It is my expectation that no member should engage in personal accusations or use language that tarnishes the Assembly’s long-standing traditions. I urge all members to maintain decorum and refrain from using words that could bring disrepute to this august House.”

In another significant matter, Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar advised the state government to formulate a comprehensive action plan to address the damage caused to crops by ghoda roj (wild horses) in several regions of Madhya Pradesh.

During the Question Hour on Thursday, Member Vipin Jain raised a query regarding the government's measures to prevent crop damage caused by ghoda roj and the steps being taken to curb the increasing road accidents resulting from their movement. Responding to the question, Revenue Minister Karan Singh Verma detailed the government’s initiatives on the matter. Several members underscored the severity of the issue and urged the government to take prompt action.

In response, the Speaker suggested that the concerned department should consult with experts and formulate a structured plan to mitigate the problem. He remarked, “This issue requires a comprehensive and scientific approach, as the population of ghoda roj is increasing steadily. If timely action is not taken, it may pose a serious challenge to the state.”

On the auspicious occasion of Holi, Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar extended his warm greetings to the people of Madhya Pradesh. In his message, he conveyed his best wishes for joy, prosperity, and harmony to every citizen of the state. He encouraged people to celebrate the festival with natural colors and prayed for the well-being and happiness of all residents, expressing hope that Holi would bring renewed energy and positivity into everyone’s lives.
