In a move to facilitate better connectivity and cater to the rising passenger demand, the South Eastern Railway (SER) has announced the operation of two special trains passing through Tatanagar and several other key railway stations under the Chakradharpur railway division. The Kolkata-based SER headquarters, Garden Reach, released the detailed schedule for these special trains today.
08563/08564 Jagdalpur-Thakurnagar-Jagdalpur Special: Train number 08563 Jagdalpur-Thakurnagar Special commenced its journey from Jagdalpur today at 8:00 AM and is scheduled to reach Thakurnagar at 10:45 AM the next day.
For the return journey, 08564 Thakurnagar-Jagdalpur Special will depart from Thakurnagar on March 28 at 6:00 PM, reaching Jagdalpur at 10:45 PM the following day.
The train will have scheduled halts at important stations within the SER jurisdiction, including Jharsuguda, Rourkela, Chakradharpur, Tatanagar, Kharagpur, and Andul.
08373/08374 Kesinga-Thakurnagar-Kesinga Special: Train number 08373 Kesinga-Thakurnagar Special is set to begin its journey from Kesinga tomorrow (March 27) at 4:10 PM, reaching Thakurnagar at 10:45 AM the next day.
For the return journey, 08374 Thakurnagar-Kesinga Special will leave Thakurnagar on March 28 at 8:30 PM and is expected to reach Kesinga at 2:45 PM the following day.
This special train will also stop at Jharsuguda, Rourkela, Chakradharpur, Tatanagar, Kharagpur, and Andul within the SER network.
The introduction of these special trains aims to accommodate the growing travel demand, especially among passengers commuting between Odisha, West Bengal, and Jharkhand. With major stoppages at strategic locations, including Tatanagar, these trains will offer a convenient travel option for long-distance passengers.
A senior railway official from the Chakradharpur division highlighted that the special train services are part of SER’s efforts to ease congestion and provide seamless travel facilities. The trains will be equipped with essential passenger amenities to ensure a comfortable journey.
Passengers are advised to check seat availability and make advance bookings through the official Indian Railways website or designated railway reservation counters. Authorities have also requested travelers to adhere to safety protocols and arrive at stations in a timely manner.
