Security forces recover explosives and arms in Anti-Naxal Operation

Wednesday, 19 March 2025 | PNS | Jamshedpur

Security forces have recovered a significant cache of explosives and arms during an ongoing anti-Naxal operation in West Singhbhum. Acting on intelligence inputs, a search operation was launched on Tuesday, in the forested areas near Kafikucha and Yeshokbeda under Goilkera police station. During the raid, a Naxal hideout was discovered, leading to the seizure of weapons, explosives, and daily-use supplies. Security personnel also successfully defused an IED mine, ensuring the safety of locals and preventing any potential attacks.

Authorities have seized the following materials from the site: 02 IED bombs (each weighing approximately 4 kg), 20-meter codex wire, 50 electric chips, 01 kg of splinters, 40 pieces of syringes, 100 meters of electric wire (2mm size), 20 meters of 4mm electric wire and other daily-use materials

In a concerted effort to curb Naxal activities in Jharkhand, multiple security agencies have launched a series of operations across vulnerable areas. The campaign is being spearheaded by the Jharkhand Police (Naxal Unit) in collaboration with CRPF battalions 60 BN, 197 BN, 174 BN, 193 BN, 134 BN, 26 BN, and other security forces.

According to official sources, the joint operation has been active since 2022, with a focus on Naxal-affected areas under Goilkera police station, including villages like Dubumka, Chhota Dubumka, Majhgaon, Ejkaymunda, Kafikucha, Fryakbedia, Boipaisi, Darcha, Bagikuru, Boro, Yeselkhadi, and the border regions of Tonto police station like Gulphi, Rajakala, Rumakgoda, Jagda, Patkursaj, Kosav, and Luiya.

In response to the recent recovery, security forces have heightened their vigilance in the region, conducting intensified patrolling, surprise raids, and strategic checkpoints to intercept Naxal movements. Special teams have been deployed to track down individuals linked to the recovered materials, and local intelligence networks are being strengthened to prevent further insurgent activities.

Authorities have also urged villagers to remain cautious and cooperate with security personnel. Awareness programs are being conducted to educate residents on identifying suspicious activities and reporting them to law enforcement. Community engagement is a crucial part of the strategy to eliminate Naxal influence in the affected districts.

Security forces have intensified surveillance in the region, aiming to dismantle any remaining Naxal strongholds. Local residents have been urged to report suspicious activities, as authorities continue their commitment to restoring peace and security in Jharkhand.

Meanwhile, officials have confirmed that further combing operations will be carried out in the coming days to ensure the complete eradication of Naxal threats. Forces remain on high alert, prepared to respond to any potential threats posed by insurgents attempting to regain lost ground.

“ The joint anti-Naxal operation remains in full swing, with Jharkhand Police and CRPF leading the charge against insurgent threats. The recent recoveries serve as a significant setback for Naxal groups, highlighting the success of ongoing security initiatives in the region. As operations continue, authorities reaffirm their commitment to making Jharkhand a safer place for its citizens,” said an official.

Jamshedpur: A CRPF sub-inspector was injured in an IED blast triggered by Naxals at Radha Poda village under the Jeraikela thana area in West Singhbhum on Tuesday morning.

The injured officer, Subodh Kumar of the CRPF’s 134 battalion, was immediately given first aid at a health center in Jeraikela before being airlifted to a hospital in Ranchi for further treatment. Officials have confirmed that his condition is stable and he is recovering.

West Singhbhum SP Ashutosh Shekhar stated that security forces, including the CRPF’s 134 battalion, have been conducting anti-Naxal operations in the hilly terrain of Jeraikela and adjoining areas since March 4.
