Respite from heat till April 19- MET Centre

The residents of the State capital had some respite from the heat on Tuesday evening as a sudden spell of heavy rain drenched the City turning the weather pleasant.

As per the Meteorological Centre Ranchi, there is a possibility of rain, thunderstorm and lighting for various parts of the State till April 19.

For April 16 and April 17, the MET Centre has issued a yellow alert stating that apart from the northwestern parts of the State, the remaining parts are likely to witness light to moderate rain along with strong winds with a speed of up to 30 to 40 km per hour which may go up to 50 km per hour. 

For April 18, apart from the western parts of Jharkhand, the rest of the State is likely to witness light to moderate rain as well as strong winds with a maximum speed of 50 km per hour. On April 19, the eastern parts of Jharkhand and the adjoining northern regions may witness light to moderate rain. “The incoming winds from the Bay of Bengal continue to bring in moisture. The temperature in the State is also suitable for thunderstorm and lighting activities. The western disturbance runs from north Bihar to north Coastal Andhra Pradesh passing through Jharkhand and also a trough from central Madhya Pradesh to to south Gangetic West Bengal because of twhich there will be thunderstorm and lighting activity in the coming days,” said MET CDirector, Abhishek Anand. As per the data shared by the MET Centre, Ranchi, in the last 24 hours, the maximum temperature in the State was recorded in Daltonganj at 36.6 degree Celsius which is three degrees below normal.

 Ranchi was 2.1 degrees below normal at 33.8 degree Celsius while Jamshedpur was 6.6 degrees below normal at 33 degree Celsius.

The maximum temperature in Bokaro was 6.7 degrees below normal at 32.1 degree Celsius while Chaibasa was at 32.4 degree Celsius which is 6.5 degrees below normal.

From April 16 to April 19, the maximum temperature in the State capital and its surrounding areas will be around 33 degree Celsius which may go up to 36 degree Celsius towards the weekend.
