Ranchi Smart City has been awarded for better use of Artificial Intelligence in urban development by India Trade Promotion Organization, Government of India and the tenth Smart City India Expo in Convergence India organized at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi for the last three days (19-21 March 2025).
Under the Convergence India program, nomination proposals were sought from all the smart cities of all the states on many topics including the use of AI in their work. Ranchi Smart City had also prepared and sent nomination proposals in four areas, in which Ranchi has been honoured in the AI category.
Joint Secretary and Additional Secretary rank officers of the Government of India were present as jury members to evaluate the nomination sent for AI based service in the city. CEO Amit Kumar received this honour on behalf of Ranchi Smart City Corporation, along with him Smart City GM (Technical) Rakesh Kumar Nandkyoliar was also present.
For the last several months, Artificial Intelligence is being used for automatic number plate recognition and e-challan. In this, manual intervention has been removed in the process of sending challan related to any kind of traffic rule violation and the fine prescribed for it. Due to this, challan cannot be stopped for a long time and challan pendency has also reduced. Along with this, the provisions of fines for different violations and the accusations against different agencies like transport, district administration, police etc. in its execution have also ended. Overall, there is a lot of transparency in this whole process.
It is worth mentioning that Ranchi Smart City had also set up its stall in Convergence India, where representatives from many countries of the world along with India visited the stall and got information about the smart city being built in Ranchi and also appreciated this model.
