Ranchi police arrest six persons in coal trader firing case

Ranchi police have arrested six people in the firing case on coal businessman Vipin Mishra. The arrested accused persons include Prem Pandey, Rehman Ansari, Karan, Avinash Thakur, Shobhit Singh and Vishal Munda. Four pistols, 20 bullets, six magazines and a bike have been recovered from them.

SSP Chandan Sinha, while revealing the firing case in a press conference on Tuesday, said that an attempt was made to kill coal businessman Vipin Mishra by shooting at him on March 7. Vipin Mishra and his driver, who were injured in the firing, were treated at Medica Hospital. Both have now recovered and gone home.

The SSP said that in view of the seriousness of the case, an SIT team was formed under the leadership of the City SP. During the investigation, the team first caught Karan. He was interrogated. Karan Oraon gave information to the team regarding the incident. After this, all the accused were arrested. During the arrest, Prem Pandey and Rehman Ansari jumped from the police vehicle in an attempt to escape, due to which both of them suffered serious injuries.

The SSP said that this incident was carried out at the behest of gangster Aman Sahu (deceased) while he was lodged in Raipur jail. This incident was carried out through Prem Pandey. Akash Rai alias Monu, had provided weapons to Prem Pandey to carry out the incident. After this, Prem Pandey included shooters Avinash Thakur and Shobhit Singh who came from Buxar.

The vehicle was arranged through Karan Oraon to carry out the incident, while Rehman was appointed as driver. Vishal Munda was deployed to do recce of Vipin Mishra before the incident. Rehman and both the shooters were at the scene driving the vehicle on the day of the incident. Both the shooters were lodged by Prem Pandey in Shri Ramakrishna Enclave.

Prem Pandey told the police that he came out of Ramgarh jail on February 15. Currently, he was living in Munna Singh's guest house on the eighth floor of Sri Ramakrishna Enclave in Morhabadi. He earlier worked in Vikas Tiwari's gang. His cousin Bharat Pandey was shot dead in Chainpur, Palamu in January, for which Vikas Tiwari took responsibility. Before this, his uncle Ashok Pandey was also killed by Vikas Tiwari in 2022.

On February 28, Monu Rai's man sent two lakh rupees at Shaheed Chowk Ranchi on the behest of Aman Sahu, which was received from Karan. After this a conspiracy was hatched to shoot Vipin Mishra.

On March 7, Vipin Mishra was shot at in Bariatu. Three criminals riding a bike opened fire on Vipin Mishra's car. Vipin Mishra was hit by two bullets. When Vipin Mishra's personal and government bodyguards fired back at the criminals, they fled. After the firing, Aman Sahu's gang took responsibility for the incident by posting on social media. Meanwhile, on March 11, Aman Sahu was killed in an encounter while being brought from Chhattisgarh to Ranchi.
