In a major step to curb cross-border drug smuggling, Punjab Government on Wednesday conducted a real-time trial of advanced anti-drone technology at Naushera Dhalla — a border village in Tarn Taran district. This strategic move, part of the ongoing anti-drug campaign “Yudh Nashian Virudh”, aims to counter the growing menace of drone-based narco-terrorism.
The trial was attended by Cabinet Minister and AAP state president Aman Arora, along with Jails Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar and senior Punjab Police officials. The demonstration follows earlier trials held in SAS Nagar, Mohali, on March 4-5.
Arora, speaking to the media, highlighted Punjab’s commitment to acquiring cutting-edge anti-drone systems to detect, identify, and neutralize drones used for smuggling arms, explosives, and narcotics. “For years, Punjab suffered due to cross-border drug trade. Under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s leadership, we are taking firm action,” he said.
While the BSF is responsible for border security, Arora emphasized Punjab’s proactive role in strengthening its second line of defense. He also invited global technology firms to demonstrate their anti-drone solutions, reaffirming Punjab’s resolve to procure the best systems to combat narco-terrorism effectively.
