President Draupadi Murmu reached Ranchi on Friday evening on her two-day visit to Jharkhand. The Governor welcomed the President as soon as she reached the Raj Bhavan. Ranchi Police had made tight security arrangements on the entire route line from the airport to the Raj Bhavan. On February 15, the President will attend the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of BIT Mesra as the chief guest. Tight security arrangements have been made for the President's arrival in Ranchi. Apart from ten IPS, 1000 policemen have been deployed for her security.
Barricading has been done on both sides of the road from the airport to the Raj Bhavan and from the Raj Bhavan to BIT Mesra for the arrival of the President. Also, drop gates have been made at many places. Traffic DSP, inspector and policemen have been deployed on every road to manage the traffic. As the President's convoy moved forward, the traffic was opened accordingly. Barricading has also been done at many places to stop the traffic.
Chief Secretary Alka Tiwari held a meeting to review preparations for the President's visit. Tiwari instructed officials to keep all the arrangements in order during the President's visit as per the protocol. Deployment of police forces was seen at strategic locations. "Wherever necessary, the departments should coordinate with each other and make the preparations strong," an official statement quoting the chief secretary.
The officials have been directed to ensure uninterrupted power supply, it said. "Preparations for the national anthem and arrangements for security, electricity and loudspeakers and fire fighting, medical arrangements at the programme venue and accommodation site were reviewed," the statement said.
On her arrival at Ranchi this afternoon, the President proceeded to Raj Bhavan, and she will participate in the BIT Mesra event on Saturday, an official said. The institute will commemorate 75 years of academic excellence, research and technological innovation, a BIT official said. Ranchi Deputy Commissioner (DC) Manjunath Bhajantri convened meetings with officials to oversee preparations for the President's visit.
As per Bhajantri's directions, officers have been deputed at key locations, including the airport, Raj Bhavan, and the event venue. Security deployments have been in place at high-rise buildings and sensitive locations along the President's transit route.
President Draupadi Murmu will stay at the Raj Bhavan in Ranchi. In view of this, separate arrangements have been made for transportation in Ranchi. No entry has been imposed from 6 am to 10 pm. Entry of small cargo vehicles has also been stopped in the city from 3 pm to 7 pm. From 3 pm to 6 pm, vehicles going towards Kanke, Ratu, Kanthitand, Daladli, Kathal Mor will be able to go towards their destination through Main Road, Lalpur Road, Kantatoli Road from the city.
Similarly, from 3 pm to 6 pm, the use of roads up to Airport Road, Hinoo Chowk, Birsa Chowk, Argora Chowk, Sahajanand Chowk, Bypass Road Kishoreganj Chowk, New Market Chowk, Hatlips Chowk, Raj Bhavan Mor will be minimized.
All vehicles coming towards the city from Kanke Road, Ratu Road, Kathal Mor, Kanthidand can enter the city via Kanke Ring Road, Lalpur Chowk and Kantatoli Road. Many roads can also be diverted and stopped.
