BJP's state spokesperson Pratul Shahdev was taken into custody by a heavy team of Ranchi police from his residence in Harmu at 6:45 am. The reason for the detention was not given.
Pratul Shahdev said that when the BJP's bandh was peaceful and spontaneous, then this raid by the police is beyond comprehension.
Pratul and many other leaders were kept in Jagannathpur police station and were released at 5:00 pm. Pratul said that despite many requests, Ranchi police did not allow him to attend Anil Tiger's funeral. Pratul said that if the Ranchi police had shown the same agility in arresting criminals as it did in arresting BJP leaders today, then Ranchi would not have been on the verge of becoming a crime capital today.
