The Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitran Company (MKVVCL) on Monday released its weekly list of defaulters across 16 districts, including Bhopal and Gwalior.
Releasing the list on its website, the company urged consumers to clear their dues to avoid public listing, as the defaulters’ details, including names, addresses, and outstanding amounts, are now accessible to the public.
The list, updated every Monday, under the "Consumer Arrears List" section. It is also shared on social media platforms like Facebook, X, and Instagram. Consumers who settle their dues have their names promptly removed from the list.
In Gwalior, the highest outstanding amount is Rs 12.02 lakh, owed by an industrial consumer from Baraghata. Other major defaulters include domestic and agricultural users, with dues ranging from Rs 7.21 lakh to Rs 8.57 lakh. The significant presence of agricultural defaulters highlights rural electricity consumption issues.
Bhopal’s biggest defaulters owe considerably less in comparison. The largest outstanding amount is Rs 3.92 lakh by a domestic consumer in Katara Hills, while commercial establishments such as banquet halls and telecom companies owe between Rs 2.54 lakh and Rs 3.67 lakh. Unlike Gwalior, Bhopal’s list features more non-domestic consumers.
The stark contrast suggests that Gwalior has a larger concentration of high-value defaulters, particularly from agriculture and industry, while Bhopal’s outstanding dues are spread across commercial and domestic users.
