Attacks on police continue in the state as another attack on police was reported in Madhya Pradesh, where a police team dispatched to resolve a case in Sehore was brutally assaulted with sticks by a group of people.
A Sub-Inspector (SI) sustained serious injuries during the incident and has been admitted to the district hospital for treatment.
The violent episode unfolded on Saturday night in Kheri village, under the jurisdiction of the Ichhawar police station.
Reports indicate that the conflict stemmed from a court marriage between a local youth, Kamlesh, and a woman from Gerukhan village when the woman’s family learned of the marriage, they were infuriated.
Fearing retaliation, Kamlesh and his family fled their home. In response, the woman’s enraged family allegedly vandalized Kamlesh’s residence.
After receiving reports of the incident and the vandalism from villagers, SI Ramnarayan Dhurve from Ichhawar police station arrived at the scene accompanied by two constables.
However, as soon as the police team reached the location, they were ambushed by the woman’s family members and several others, who attacked them with sticks.
