Netarhat police in Latehar district have cracked the murder case of an eight year old child identified as Chhitij Kumar in a record time of 24 hours. According to the SP Latehar Kumar Gaurav, "Police have caught the lone killer identified as Chandra Kishore, 48, from Bokaro last night."
Chandra Kishore has been remanded to judicial custody today February 18 in Latehar.The killer Chandra Kishore is a police constable said Gaurav.The killer has confessed to his crime of killing the child.
Police have recovered the brick used to crush the child to death, said Gaurav.
The child's head was crushed with the multiple blows of the brick.
It did hurt the eyes but no gauging out of the eyes. The eyes were in the socket, said the SP vigorously.
The severe wound was between the eyes and the nose, said the officer in charge of the Netarhat police station Abhishek Singh.
SP putting the record straight said"There is no use of any knifing on any part of the body of the child. Eyes have not been gouged out. It's there in the eye socket."
He went on to say"Some enterprising journalists have spun out unreal things just to create sensationalism. Let's be respectful to the dead."
The child went missing on the night of February 16. His father Prabhat Ranjan lodged the missing report (yes missing report) with the Netarhat police station on the night of February 16 said the officer in charge of the Netarhat police station Abhishek Singh.
Police registered this complaint as a 'Sanha' and made a station diary entry of it.
Police launched a massive search but the child remained untraced.
It was on February 17 that his body was found barely 60 meters away from his house in the bushes and shrubs.
The father Prabhat Ranjan following the recovery of the body of his son again approached the police and named accused Chandra Kishore, 48, a police constable by profession.
According to the SP Latehar Kumar Gaurav"The tragedy and loss of life of an innocent child moves around an illicit relationship between the mother of the deceased child and this killer Chandra Kishore."
On the fateful night of February 16, this Kishore had gone to the child's mother but as she was not around and this child saw this man, Chandra Kishore knew his illicit love would become public, added the SP.
The man went berserk, picked up the child and finished him off, but police got him too promptly, reiterated the SP.
Sources said this case which could have outraged public sentiments like anything was handled most aptly by the Netarhat police when it unfolded the case and caught the killer in the shortest possible time under the command of SP Latehar Kumar Gaurav.
