Passengers at Bhopal Railway Station will now be able to avail of a smart, budget-friendly accommodation option, with the opening of the first pod hotel at platform number 6 on Saturday
Inspired by Japan’s capsule hotels, the facility was inaugurated by MP Alok Sharma and Divisional Railway Manager Debashish Tripathi. It offers compact yet comfortable stays, ideal for short layovers and overnight transits.
The pod hotel features 58 single pods and 20 family pods, each equipped with a bed, locker, reading light, TV, Wi-Fi, and USB port. A lounge, washroom, and cafeteria add convenience.
Family pods are designed for two adults and two children. Individual pod space measures about 5 by 7 feet, ensuring privacy. Bookings are available via IRCTC or at the station, with a valid PNR number.
With over 20,000 passengers entering from platform 6 and a daily footfall of nearly 45,000, the hotel addresses a pressing need for affordable, comfortable rest spaces at the busy station.
Tariffs are wallet-friendly—multi-bed pods cost Rs 200 for three hours and Rs 900 for 24 hours. Family pods start at Rs 400 for three hours and go up to Rs 3,000 for 48 hours.
Following the first such facility at Mumbai Central in 2021, Bhopal’s pod hotel is only the second of its kind in the country.
