On the occasion of the birth anniversary of the Architect of the Constitution, Baba Saheb Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated a host of development projects to the people of Haryana.
The Prime Minister flagged off the first commercial flight from the Maharaja Agrasen airport Hisar to Ayodhya and also laid the foundation stone of a new terminal building at the airport. Modi said that the Centre Government is emphasising connectivity on the one hand and ensuring social justice and welfare of the poor on the other.
The new terminal building of the airport will be built at a cost of Rs 410 crore. The project will be completed in two years. The scheduled flights from Hisar to Ayodhya twice a week, and three flights in a week to Jammu, Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Chandigarh are expected to mark a significant leap in Haryana's aviation connectivity. Modi further said that flights from Hisar to other cities would begin soon.
Addressing the gathering at the ‘Sankalp Ki Udaan’ ceremony in Hisar, the Prime Minister said that the Union Government has delivered an inspirational message by embodying the ideals of Bharat Ratna Baba Saheb Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar over the past 10 years. The government has developed Baba Saheb’s birthplace, education site, initiation site, and place of Mahanirvana as Panchteerth, honouring his legacy and vision. The Government is committed to safeguarding the rights of the deprived, poor, exploited and is working tirelessly to uplift their lives. The launch of air services from Maharaja Agrasen Airport will propel the state to new heights of development and connectivity, he added.
He also paid floral tribute and bowed before Baba Saheb’s portrait on the main stage. The Prime Minister also paid homage to Guru Jambheshwar, Maharaja Agrasen, and Agroha Dham. Upon his arrival in Haryana, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini welcomed the Prime Minister.
Modi said that today is dedicated to the upliftment of the last person in society—the poor and the deprived. On the auspicious occasion of Babasaheb's birth anniversary, the sacred land of Shri Krishna has been directly connected to the land of Shri Rama, marking a historic moment, along with the launch of several major development projects for the people of Haryana. He said that every policy, scheme, and decision of the Central and Haryana Governments is inspired by Dr Ambedkar. The Central Government has set a clear goal to transform the lives of the poor, the exploited, and the underprivileged. Continuous and accelerated development is the government’s core mantra. In line with this, a new air service from Haryana to Ayodhya Dham has been launched. The life, struggle, and message of Baba Saheb have become the guiding pillar of the government's 11-year journey, he added.
The Prime Minister said that before 2014, India had only 74 airports. Today, that number has crossed 150. In addition, around 90 aerodromes have been connected under the UDAN Yojana, and air services are now operational on more than 600 routes across the country, offering affordable air travel to people. The airline companies have placed orders for 2,000 new aircraft. As the number of airplanes increases, so will employment opportunities, not only in aviation but also in the aircraft maintenance sector. He further said the newly inaugurated Hisar airport will help realize the dreams of Haryana’s youth. Referring to his earlier commitment, the Prime Minister said, “I had promised that even those wearing ‘hawai chappals’ would be able to fly in airplanes—and today, that promise is being fulfilled across the nation.” In the past 11 years, crores of Indians have experienced air travel for the first time.
The Prime Minister accused the Congress of using the Constitution merely as a vote-bank tool, claiming that the party systematically ignored the rights granted to SC, ST, and OBC communities, thus keeping the poor and marginalized away from their entitlements. He stressed that the true spirit of the Constitution calls for a Uniform Civil Code, which Congress never attempted to implement. In contrast, the BJP government in Uttarakhand has taken concrete steps toward implementing the Uniform Civil Code.
Modi pointed out that for nearly 70 years after independence, only 16% of the population had access to tap water, most of whom belonged to SC, ST, and OBC communities. In the initial 6–7 years, the BJP government has provided tap water connections to over 12 crore rural households, raising coverage in villages to 80%. He reaffirmed the government’s resolve to ensure tap water reaches every home.
Moreover, he said that after recent amendments to the Waqf Act, Waqf Boards can no longer claim ownership of tribal lands in any part of the country. The Prime Minister said, “For us, politics is a medium of service to the people and the nation. Our party delivers on its promises, as evident in Haryana, where the government is fulfilling commitments made after being elected for the third term.” He contrasted this with opposition-ruled states, citing betrayal of public trust. He pointed to the struggles faced by people in Himachal Pradesh, where development and welfare projects have stalled. In Karnataka, he highlighted rising costs of essentials like electricity, milk, bus fares, and seeds under current dispensation’s rule. He mentioned public dissatisfaction with the incumbent government in Karnataka, as seen on social media, and noted allegations of corruption, with even close associates of the Chief Minister acknowledging Karnataka’s ranking as number one in corruption. Modi criticized the present government in Telangana for neglecting its promises to the people and focusing on bulldozing forests, causing harm to nature and wildlife. He contrasted two models of governance and described his party’s model as genuine and dedicated to building a developed India, while the opposition’s as deceitful and focused solely on power.
Lays foundation Stone of GOBARdhan Plant in Yamunanagar; Inaugurates Rewari Bypass
In another programme at Yamunanagar, Modi laid the foundation stone for the third unit of 800 MW at Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram Thermal Power Plant in Yamunanagar worth Rs 8,469 crore. Additionally, he laid the foundation stone for a GOBARdhan Plant in Yamunanagar worth Rs 90 crore and inaugurated the Rewari Bypass built at a cost of Rs 1069 crore.
Lauds CM Saini’s pro-people governance
Modi lauded the efforts of the Haryana Government, led by Chief Minister Saini, for its consistent work towards the welfare of the underprivileged. He said that the dismal state of government jobs in Haryana prior to 2014 is well known, and praised the current administration for effectively rectifying the systemic issues inherited from the previous Congress government. Today, Haryana has set an exemplary record in offering government jobs without any Kharchi-Parchi. The Prime Minister commended the state government's transparency in recruitment, adding that over 25,000 eligible youth were provided government employment before the Chief Minister Saini took oath. He further added that the state government is actively preparing a roadmap to create thousands of new jobs in the near future.
Triple Engine Government is moving fast towards development of Haryana: CM
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that Haryana is effectively fulfilling its responsibility of serving the common man while also implementing the public welfare schemes of the Central Government. Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Haryana is progressing steadily as a partner in development, empowered by the strength of a triple engine government. Describing the day as historic, the Chief Minister said, “Today, on April 14, we are witnessing a significant milestone as air services commence from the newly constructed Maharaja Agrasen Airport in Hisar to the Maharishi Valmiki International Airport in Ayodhya, the city of Lord Shri Rama. Along with this, the foundation stone laying of the second terminal of Haryana's first airport marks another leap in the direction of development.” He said that this event has sparked a wave of enthusiasm across the entire state ushering in a new era, a new direction, and a new momentum in Haryana’s growth journey.
Saini reiterated Prime Minister Modi’s vision of making India a developed nation by 2047, affirming that Haryana will play a significant role in realizing this dream. He said that within the first 100 days of the BJP’s third term, 19 promises from the party’s Sankalp Patra have been fulfilled, work has commenced on 90 others, and significant progress is being made on the rest. He said that Haryana’s double engine government has now transformed into a triple engine government, accelerating the pace of development threefold. The Chief Minister highlighted the launch of the Lado Laxmi Yojana, aimed at empowering women, for which a provision of Rs 5,000 crore has been made in the state’s first budget of the new term.
