A group of transgender people from Garhwa took part in this week's 'Coffee with SDM' session. The SDM, Sanjay Kumar, promised to help them with their concerns. He collected information from each person and encouraged them to sign up for government welfare schemes. He also said it was important to register to vote.
Radha Kinnar wanted to benefit from the housing scheme. She had bought land but needed help building a house. Pinky Kinnar asked for identity cards for the transgender community. Muskaan and Lipi Kinnar wanted Ayushman cards for healthcare. The SDM said he would pass on their requests to the right people.
The session explained schemes for transgender people, including the Smile Scheme. Sania Kinnar, who finished school, wanted to study more. Julie Kinnar wanted to learn to be a beautician. The SDM said he would help them.
The SDM encouraged transgender people to become brand ambassadors for government programmes like voter awareness, road safety, and the Swachh Bharat Mission. He wanted them to use their creativity to help society.
Some transgender people talked about their struggles. They said they had to beg for money. They wanted to be part of society and find jobs or start their own businesses.
Many people attended the session, including Radha, Simran, Pinky, Sania, Ganga, Julie, Muskaan, Lipi, Shraddha, Pihu, and others. Senior journalist Deepak Sinha, the District Child Protection Officer, and the District Coordinator were also there.
