The Madhya Pradesh government on Wednesday approved major infrastructure projects for the state capital, including three flyovers, 38 new roads, and metro expansion, aiming to ease congestion and improve urban mobility.
A 780-metre, Rs 53 crore flyover at Vyapam Square will provide relief to commuters between Board Office and New Market. A Rs 48.58 crore flyover at Sukhi Sewania will eliminate a dangerous black spot, while a Rs 37.70 crore flyover at Phanda will ensure smoother traffic on the Bhopal-Indore highway.
The state budget also allocated Rs 300 crore for 38 new roads, including major projects like the widening of Char Imli Main Road (Rs 25 crore, 4 km) and Arvind Vihar Colony Road (Rs 36 crore, 8 km). These roads will boost connectivity across key residential and commercial areas.
A major push for Bhopal Metro comes with an Rs 850 crore allocation for metro projects in Bhopal and Indore. The Blue Line (Bhadbhada to Ratnagiri) will soon see construction, significantly improving public transport in the city.
Beyond transport, the budget includes a Rs 20 crore swimming pool and auditorium in Bag Sewaniya, and Rs 10.92 crore for land acquisition to develop road access to Manisha Market, Bansal Hospital, and Kolar Road.
Coming close on the heels of the Global Investors Summit and the recent groundbreaking for a fully equipped convention centre in the city, these budget allocations are sure to speed up progress in Bhopal.
