In a move to improve connectivity and reduce congestion, South Delhi BJP MP Ramvir Singh Bidhuri on Tuesday met Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari and urged him for improvement of Mandi-Jaunapur Road, Chhatarpur 100 Foota Road and construction of Master Plan Road behind Sangam Vihar and Sainik Farm, besides improving the drainage system of Badarpur Mathura Road. The MP said the Minister assured to get all the schemes implemented soon.
Bidhuri said that there is a need to improve the roads to get relief from jam in South Delhi and the government is continuously working on it. That is why he suggested these projects to Gadkari. He was requested that Mandi-Jaunapur road needs to be widened to 100 feet. Due to the high number of traffic on this road, there is often congestion and jams. Widening the road will provide relief to the people.
Similarly, Chhatarpur 100 feet road needs to be elevated from Fatehpur Beri near Qutub Minar Metro Station to Dera Mor and then from Dera Mor to Faridabad-Gurgaon Road. By doing this, there will be success in reducing the congestion on this road as well.
South Delhi BJP MP Bidhuri said that the construction of the proposed master plan road to be built behind Sangam Vihar and Sainik Farm on priority
basis will provide relief from jams to the entire area. Bidhuri said that the drainage system of Mathura Road till Badarpur border also needs to be fixed. The drainage system of this road has become very old and there is a problem of water-logging there during the rainy season. A new drainage system should be built to get relief from it. Bidhuri said that the completion of these projects will help a lot in making South Delhi jam-free.
Chandni Chowk BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal also expressed gratitude to Gadkari for approval of a new link connecting Azad Market to Urban Extension Road-II. The project will significantly improve transportation networks in Chandni Chowk and surrounding areas, easing congestion and facilitating smoother trade and travel. By linking Azad Market, Shastri Nagar, Outer Ring Road, and Rohini to the Delhi-Katra Expressway via the KMP Expressway, the development will provide better access for businesses, daily commuters, and the logistics sector.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has initiated Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for this 20-km road link, with an estimated Budget of `2,500 Crore. Following the finalisation of DPRs within the next 6-7 months, construction will begin promptly.
