Students, faculty members, and the management at Nanaji Deshmukh Veterinary Science University, Jabalpur, marked the 76th Republic Day at an event attended by Vice Chancellor Dr Mandeep Sharma.
The festivities, held at the College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, commenced with Dr Sharma paying floral tributes to Nanaji Deshmukh and remembering the sacrifices of those who laid down their lives in the service of the nation.
Invoking the unparalleled contributions of Dr BR Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution, Dr Sharma spoke of the merits of Indian democracy.
While presenting the life history of Nanaji Deshmukh, the Vice Chancellor elaborated on the outstanding role that Nanaji Deshmukh played in the social and economic upliftment of farmers and livestock keepers as part of rural development. As a result of his immense contributions, the university was named after him.
The university and the College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry organised cultural performances, an animal exhibition, veterinary camps, seminars, workshops, and various activities for farmers. Certificates were distributed to the participants of these events. The programme was conducted by Deputy Registrar Dr Ram Kinkar Mishra, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Registrar Dr SS Tomar.
Notable attendance was seen from all the university directors, faculty members, officers, staff, and students.
