In the midst of a looming sanitation audit, Municipal Commissioner Harendra Narayan on Monday directed health officials to focus on visible cleanliness across the state capital.
Following an inspection of the cleanliness drive in several neighbourhoods, Narayan told officials to conduct continuous monitoring across zones and wards, ensuring cleanliness is maintained efficiently.
The directives sought a special emphasis on clearing dust and dirt from central verges, side verges, and road dividers. The top municipal functionary also asked for regular cleanliness drives in green belts.
Narayan said that the city must be immediately freed of all unauthorised posters, pamphlets, and banners to maintain a cleaner appearance.
Concerned about the defacement of public spaces, Narayan expressed dissatisfaction over the spitting of pan and gutkha on overbridges and walls, ordering immediate washing and penal action against offenders.
