A young man died under mysterious circumstances in the Dubagga area of the city on Tuesday.
The family has accused one of the friends of the deceased of mixing some poisonous substance in his liquor.
The deceased was identified as 22-year-old Vimal Rawat, a labourer and resident of Majra Katauli in Dubagga.
Vimal’s father Satguru said that his son went out with his friend at around 5 pm on Saturday and when he did not return home till late night, the family started searching for him.
The family found Vimal lying unconscious under a tree about 500 metres from the house, and brought him home. His mobile phone was missing.
Satguru alleged that the next day, the friend came again in the afternoon and forcibly took Vimal with him. When Vimal returned home at 7 pm, he was having pain in his stomach. He started having diarrhoea and vomiting. The family took him to a private hospital for treatment but he was referred to the Trauma Centre of King George’s Medical University in view of his serious condition. At the trauma centre the doctors pronounced him dead.
Police said that no written complaint had been filed as yet as the body had been handed over to the family after post-mortem.
Further action will be taken on the basis of the report, the police added.
