In a significant achievement in the ongoing anti-Naxal operations, security forces have successfully recovered a massive cache of arms, ammunition, and explosive materials in West Singhbhum. The operation, led by a joint team of the Jharkhand Police, CoBRA 203 and 209 Battalions, and CRPF units 26 BN, 60 BN, 134 BN, 174 BN, 193 BN, and 197 BN, marks a major blow to the insurgent network.
Based on intelligence inputs, the operation was carried out in the dense forest regions near Lajtak, Tinri, and surrounding villages under the Tonto police jurisdiction. The combing operation resulted in the seizure of a significant number of weapons and explosive materials, including: Firearms: 7.62 LMJ rifles – 1 unit, Self-loading rifle (SLR) – 1 unit, Vickers machine gun – 1 unit, Cutter device – 1 unit, Four pistols. Explosives and Chemicals: Seven phials (bottles) of chemical substances suspected to be used in explosives, Three bottles of potassium permanganate, Twelve bottles of potassium chloride, Eleven bottles of ethylene diamine, Other Seized Items: One safety frame, Various daily survival materials
This extensive recovery marks a severe setback for Naxalite groups operating in the region, as the seized weapons and explosives were likely intended for planned attacks against security forces and infrastructure. Officials believe that the cache was hidden as part of a long-term strategy to supply Naxal operatives in the area.
The security forces have intensified their surveillance and combing operations in the region to dismantle the operational capabilities of Naxal groups. The recovered materials have been sent for forensic examination, and investigations are underway to identify the sources of these weapons.
